There has been much attention in recent years to the large number of people living alone, due to such factors as later age of marriage and increasing longevity. A new report from the AARP Bulletin suggests quite a different trend is also in the offing, though — a rise in multigenerational households as economic factors compel more people to move in with other family members or friends.
As it is, 11 percent of the poll’s 35-44-year-old respondents are “boomerang adults,” living with their parents or in-laws.
