After tallying record numbers last month, The Weather Channel tapped Fox News vp of digital sales Jeremy Steinberg to lead its digital ad team from New York.

An 11-year veteran at Fox News, Steinberg oversaw revenue operations for all Fox News digital properties, including the network’s mobile iOS and Android tablet operations.

Steinberg will take the reins as svp of digital ad sales at the weather giant, which comScore’s Media Matrix ranks as a top 25 platform that consists of weather.com, wunderground and The Weather Channel’s array of mobile apps.

During October’s superstorm Sandy, The Weather Channel set a daily traffic record, garnering 450 million pageviews on its digital platforms, with 125 million coming directly from mobile and tablet.
