UAE Shops Rule Dubai Lynx Awards

NEW YORK The United Arab Emirates on Monday took home the most awards in the first Dubai Lynx Awards, a creative competition for agencies and clients in the Middle East and North Africa.

All told, 111 trophies were distributed: 39 for print, 22 for direct, 17 in outdoor, 14 for TV/cinema, 12 in interactive, 4 in radio and 3 in the integrated campaigns category.

Saatchi & Saatchi’s Dubai office received the print grand prix for an Olay ad. In it, bottles of Olay are made to look like the keys of a computer keyboard.

JWT in Cairo, Egypt, received the outdoor grand prix for its work for Lipton Green Tea. Hedges were cut into the shapes of cups of tea and large tags were hung out of them with white string.

TBWA\RAAD, Dubai, won the direct grand prix for the Standard Chartered Bank. The agency redesigned the bank’s welcome pack to reflect that opening an account only took 30 minutes, as opposed to the usual 72 hours.

Leo Burnett, Cairo, earned the TV/cinema grand prix for its work for the Melody Channel. Fortune Promoseven Dubai won the radio grand prix for its Chiquita Bananas campaign. Lowe Mena Dubai got the interactive grand prix for work on Axe deodorant.

Saatchi & Saatchi, Dubai, won the agency of the year trophy. The crosstown offices of JWT and Team/Y&R placed second and third, respectively.

The jury declined to award a grand prix in the integrated category.
