TJX Clothing Chain Parts With Arnold

BOSTON TJX’s Bob’s Stores and Havas’ Arnold have parted ways, sources said.

Arnold’s New York office handled broadcast creative chores on the business. Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos here has media chores.

The client in Meriden, Conn., has spent about $8 million on ads in each of the past two years and slightly more than $3 million during the first six months of 2005, per TNS Media Intelligence. The work at Arnold is valued at approximately $5 million.

Agency and client officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

One source said Bob’s was gearing up for a review that would include New York and New England agencies with some retail expertise.

The client chose Arnold in April 2004 following a review led by Pile and Co., the consulting company in Boston. Arnold beat out Stamford, Conn.-based independent North Castle Partners, New York independent Tucker Hampel Stefanides & Partners and Hill, Holliday in that competition.

Clarke Goward in Boston, which had previously handled the business, closed its doors late last year.

The Bob’s clothing chain operates about 40 locations in New England, New York and New Jersey.
