Tech Stocks Slide, Stay Steady on Yahoo!’s Earnings

NEW YORK Some Internet company stocks slid, while others remained unchanged in after-hours trading following Yahoo!’s positive second-quarter earnings report this afternoon.

DoubleClick shares (DCLK) were down 20 cents or 2.8 percent at $6.98 in after-hours trading after closing on the Nasdaq at $7.18, off 16 cents or 2 percent. AskJeeves stock (ASKJ) was down $2.29 or 6.7 percent at $32.13 after finishing the day at $34.42, a $1.04 or 3 percent decline. (FWHT) was off $1.24 or 6.2 percent in after-hours trading at $18.65 after closing at $19.89, down $1.06 or 5 percent.

Unchanged in after-hours trading: ValueClick (VCLK) and Digitas (DTAS). The former finished the day at $11.33, down 7 cents or 0.6 percent and the latter at $10.59, down one cent or 0.09 percent. AQuantive also remained steady after closing up 6 cents or 0.7 percent at $9.

Yahoo!, a bellwether of online advertising, reported today that its second-quarter net income doubled to $113 million on revenue of $832 million. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company’s stock (YHOO) was also down $3.85 or 11.8 percent at $28.75 in after-hours trading after dropping 62 cents or 1.3 percent to close the day on the Nasdaq at $32.60.
