TBS Assigns Project to Cliff Freeman

NEW YORK Cliff Freeman and Partners has been hired by TBS Superstation to craft commercials touting its lineup of syndicated comedy series, the client said.

TBS continues to talk to shops about broader creative chores on its $15-20 million ad account, a client representative said.

The independent New York shop is competing in that review against Omnicom Group’s Goodby, Silvertstein & Partners in San Francisco, Publicis Groupe’s Publicis in New York and MDC’s Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami, sources said. Goodby works for sister station TNT.

The Atlanta-based cable network, a unit of Time-Warner, is gearing up for a June 2004 re-launch.

Executives at Cliff Freeman could not immediately be reached.

The win marks a bright spot for Cliff Freeman, which has weathered account and staff losses in the past six months, such as Quiznos and creative executive Eric Silver. Its other clients are Hollywood Video, DWS, Value City, Mohegan Sun and Fox Sports Net.
