Super Bowl Instant Replay: Pringles Goes Big on Stupid Idea—And it Works

Flying facial hair captures attention during the Big Game

THE AD: A party runs out of Pringles. Actor Adam Brody calls for help by blowing into an empty chip can like a conch shell.

Upon hearing the sound of distress, the famously bushy mustaches of actor Nick Offerman, NBA player James Harden, and Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid detach from their respective faces then fly to a local grocery store. The flock of facial hair’s mission: Grab more cans of Pringles to restock the party.

MY HOT TAKE: The commercial is silly, stupid, and, at times, uncomfortable to watch. This combination makes it likely to stick out among other Big Game advertisers too sensible to depict a sky full of flying mustaches.
