The fourth annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals may not have attracted serious NASCAR or Formula One racing fans, but the posters from DGWB promoting the event caught the attention of many people nonetheless.

The Irvine, Calif., agency produced a handful of whimsical black-and-white and color posters promoting the “Indiana polis 500 of wiener dog racing” run by the New port Beach, Calif., client.

The posters feature the fast-food chain’s adorable wiener dog mascot with slight alterations, including slick racing tires, racing spoilers, flaming headers and other high-performance racing parts.

The posters reportedly helped the race raise millions of dollars worth of publicity for the Seal Beach Animal Care Center.

Said DGWB copywriter Elliott Allen, “Take your average wiener dog, throw on some flaming headers, nitrous-fuel boosters and dual barrel exhaust, and you’ve got a serious racing machine.”
