Schwan Foods Hears From Shops

CHICAGO The Schwan Food Co., maker of Red Baron, Freschetta and Tony’s frozen pizza brands, will hear from seven agencies this week vying for its $15 million advertising account, according to sources.

The Marshall, Minn., company’s account had previously been with Interpublic Group’s Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis. The agency is not defending, according to sources.

Among those agencies contacted for the account are: MDC Partners’ Colle + McVoy as well as independents Periscope, Gabriel DeGrood Bendt, Nelson Henry and Waters Molitor, all in Minneapolis; Cannonball in St. Louis and Frank About Women, a division of IPG’s Mullen in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., according to sources.

Agencies either could not be reached or declined comment. Officials from Schwan did not immediately return phone calls.

Presentations are scheduled throughout the week, with a decision expected shortly thereafter, sources said.
