Saturn Plans $20-Million Print Media Buys

SAN FRANCISCO – Hal Riney & Partners here is winding up meetings with print media sales representatives to map out a strategy for the $20 million it expects to spend for Saturn’s print advertising next year. Print spending, about 25% of Saturn’s ad spending last year, is expected to remain constant. ‘We don’t expect any strategic shift,’ said David Verklin, senior vp and corporate media director for HRP. ‘We have just begun to build this brand.’ A list of about 320 publications has been pared down to 110 magazines, and representatives of those publications were invited for face-to-face meetings beginning in early April. Meetings are expected to continue for another week, with selections in 30-60 days.
