DALLAS The Richards Group has acquired the marketing and advertising account of the Salvation Army, the shop said.

The independent Dallas agency was awarded the national account without a review, according to a shop representative. Young & Rubicam of Detroit was the incumbent.

Richards will handle all brand and creative development, strategic planning and media buying for the Salvation Army’s national headquarters in Alexandria, Va. Xenophon Strategies, a Washington, D.C.-based public affairs, government affairs and crisis management firm, will oversee the client’s national media, public affairs and crisis management duties.
