Saatchi Adds More to Its Plate

Saatchi & Saatchi has been awarded ad duties for two new clients: wine and beer retailer Beverages & More and online cooking supplies retailer and information resource
Saatchi picked up the $5 million Beverages & More work without a review. Based in Concord, Calif., the company operates nearly 20 stores in California and Florida, and is expanding this year into Chicago. In the past, the retailer has had small ad agencies and design shops work on projects, but is now ready for more aggressive branding, according to Saatchi general manager Julie Bauer.
“Initially, we will be focused on creating retail-oriented newspaper and radio,” said Bauer. “However, we are also in creative development on a TV test for this spring, as [the client] realizes that TV is the medium for branding.”
Saatchi won Cooking.
com’s $3 million business following a review of Bay Area shops, said Bauer.
“We think this is a neat brand. You can buy everything from pots and pans to exotic spices on this site, plan your kitchen, get recipes and so on,” she said.
The agency will create some ads for this spring, followed by a big fourth-quarter push involving print and TV, Bauer said.
