Robert Downey Jr. Trades Tony Stark's Aviators for Snap's AR Specs

The Iron Man star has joined Specs brand as chief customer experience officer, as the smart glasses wars ramp up

Move over, Kylie Jenner and Meta. Robert Downey Jr. is the latest celebrity to be tasked with making smart glasses look cool.

The Marvel actor has joined Snap Inc.’s Specs brand as honorary chief customer experience officer.

In a statement, Snap said the star would “guide customers to understand and imagine what’s possible with Specs,” its new augmented reality glasses launching in the U.S., U.K., and France later this fall. He’ll work across product innovation, marketing experiences, original content, hardware, and in-person events.

Priced starting at $2,195, Specs are transparent AR glasses that let users layer apps, games, web pages, and an AI assistant onto the real world around them.
