Rives Advances in San Francisco Chronicle Review

Rives Carlberg of Houston has advanced to the finals of a review for two projects of Hearst Communication’s San Francisco Chronicle.

Rives will contend against IPG’s Foote, Cone & Belding and the Omnicom team of DDB Worldwide and Direct Partners Group, all of San Francisco, the client said.

Agencies will present creative on December 17 and 18. The paper, which spends $3-4 million on advertising, is seeking an agency to handle a project focusing on editorial and another aimed at revenue generation, said client representative Patricia Hoyt.

Incumbent Grant, Scott & Hurley, San Francisco, is not participating. Rives, which handles the ad account of The Houston Chronicle, another Hearst publication, has worked with the San Francisco Chronicle
