Hoping to Stay Put
The phrase “home improvement” may evoke an image of young adults jazzing up their kitchens and building backyard decks. But a big chunk of domestic renovation in years to come will consist of making houses livable for their aging inhabitants. In an AARP poll of Americans age 45-plus, three-fourths think it’s very likely (54 percent) or somewhat likely (21 percent) they’ll be able to stay in their current homes for the rest of their lives.
