Raising Awareness

Cronin & Co. last week shared the limelight with Murphy Brown. A public service announcement created by the Glastonbury, Conn.-based agency appeared on an episode where the CBS show’s lead character (shown) is diagnosed with breast cancer.
Cronin’s 30-second spot, titled “Victims,” was originally created for the Connecticut Department of Public Health’s Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection program. The spot targets uninsured and underinsured women and features actress Meryl Streep’s narration as well as the haunting strains of Gershwin’s “You Can’t Take That Away From Me.”
The Susan G. Komen Breast Canter Foundation selected the spot to appear on last Wednesday’s episode, sponsored in part by Ford Motor Co., which paid for the airtime.
“The message is really encouraging women to care enough to care for yourself because you have loved ones who are also the victims of breast cancer,” said Cronin representative Patti Stern.
