Frank Nichols has joined direct-response media buying agency Mercury Media, an independent in Santa Monica, as vice president of media strategy. Previously, he was senior vice president of media services at Euro RSCG Retail.

San Francisco communications firm Allison & Partners has hired Jennifer Jolly as senior media specialist. Prior to Allison, Jolly spent eight years at San Francisco’s KTVU Fox News, where she was an Emmy Award-winning reporter.


Ad Partners has appointed Phylis Avoy media director. Prior to joining the St. Petersburg shop, she was associate media director at JA&G Advertising. Alicia Krautheim has also joined Ad Partners as an account coordinator.

Kathleen Tagle has become vice president of promotions at Orlando’s YPBRpro, the consumer promotions division of Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell. Stewart Hill has been promoted to vice president, associate media director. Hill was previously associate media director. Ashley Ledford has been hired as senior media planner. Ledford most recently was a media buyer and planner at Gilbert & Manjura Marketing. The shop has also installed Matthew Gallagher as interactive art director.


Edelman in Atlanta has named Laura Schmidt vice president. Scott Briskey and Tiffany Fessler have joined as senior account supervisor and account supervisor, respectively. Stacy Kirk has been hired as a senior account executive, and Heather Hutson and Katie Patterson have come aboard as assistant account executives.


MARC USA in Chicago has hired Dan Albert as media director. Albert was previously at Publicis’ Starcom USA in Chicago, working on accounts such as Procter & Gamble, Miller Brewing, Kellogg and Allstate. James McLaughlin has joined Marketing Alternatives, Inc. as vice president of sales. He was chief operating officer at Katherine Frank Creative.


Independent marketing shop Via in Portland has promoted Pam Chamberlain to account manager from assistant account manager. Prior to joining Via in 2000, Chamberlain worked at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, also in Portland.


Modernista! in Boston has hired Lee Fradette as a management supervisor. She will work on the agency’s Napster and Rockport accounts. Fradette spent five years in account management at IPG’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston.

Matt Fallon has joined independent MMB in Boston as a senior account supervisor. Previously, Fallon spent seven years at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, most recently as an account supervisor.


Larry Olson has joined MDC Partners-backed Mono as a creative director. Before arriving at the Minneapolis agency, he was a Seattle-based freelance art director working for WongDoody, Wexley School for Girls and Hornall Anderson Design Works.


Geoff Pickering has joined Kansas City independent Nicholson Kovac as director of interactive communications. Pickering was a founding partner of Digital Evergreen, a division of crosstown agency Barkley Evergreen & Partners.

Joseph Mazzaferro has returned to Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners in New York as creative director. He was a creative director at TBWA\Chiat\Day, a role he held since 1999.

Kelly Galligan has been promoted to associate media director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty. She’s been at BBH for two years. Prior to BBH, she worked at GWhiz Entertainment, a division of Grey.

Paul Moniz has joined the New York operation of Widmeyer Communications as a vice president and senior strategist. Moniz had served as an award-winning general assignment and investigative health reporter at WCBS-TV, a contributing correspondent to the CBS Evening News, and a staff reporter at WNBC, all in New York City.

Parke Spencer, formerly chief operating officer of Rubenstein Associates Inc., has joined Civic Entertainment Group as president and head of the firm’s municipal marketing group, a newly created position.

SchoolSports Magazine, a sports and active lifestyle magazine for teens, has hired Astor Chambers as East Coast advertising director.

The Bounce Agency has promoted senior media strategist Chris Wailes to vice president, director of media relations and editorial services. Prior to joining the Greenville shop in 2003, Wailes was vice president at Weber Shandwick Worldwide in Washington. Sabrina Nizzi has been named director of brand strategy and development. She previously was an account director at Integer in Dallas. Stephanie Tyus and Paula Meglic have been added as senior account manager and account manager, respectively. Tyus is the former marketing director of Mohawk Industries. Meglic joins from AnMed Health, where she spent 10 years as a physician network marketing rep. Bounce also has installed Nathan Osbourne as an art director and Angela Yates as a junior copywriter. Osbourne arrives from nearby Erwin-Penland, where he held the same title. Yates is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina.


The Shelton Group has appointed Brandt Conner vice president and director of client services. In his new role, Conner will lead the account management team at the Knoxville shop. He joins from Mullen, where he was senior vice president, group account director. Glenda Kirk has been named director of finance and operations. She most recently held a similar title at Kruskopf Olsen Advertising in Minneapolis. Melissa Jewell has been added as senior account executive, and Jane Foreman has joined as a production coordinator. Jewell previously held the same title at Eisenberg & Associates in Dallas. Foreman was a partner and creative director at JWT Specialized Communications in Atlanta.


Elizabeth Freeman has been appointed senior vice president of brand strategy at GSD&M in Austin. She held similar posts at Reuters in London and Deutsch in New York.

Door Number Three in Austin has named Tara Tang account executive. She most recently was a medical communications associate at Antigenics in Boston.

Tribal DDB has installed Jordan Kretchmer as an art director. He joins the Dallas shop from local Insite Interactive, where he was creative director of rich media. In addition, the agency has hired Ted Angelilli as an art director. Angelilli also arrives from Insite, where he was a production artist.
