Pro Squads of Atlanta Spirit ‘Rise Up’

ATLANTA Blue Sky is launching its first advertising for Atlanta Spirit, the parent company of the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Thrashers and Philips Arena, where the two teams play, the agency said.

The campaign for the National Basketball Association’s Hawks began this week. Ads will appear in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper on all home game days. Billboards throughout the Atlanta metro area also are being installed this week. Radio ads introducing the players will begin airing next week. “Rise up” is the campaign tagline.

Blue Sky acquired the account without a review. Billings are undisclosed. The independent Atlanta shop has held the Thrashers’ account since the team’s first season in 1999.

Atlanta Spirit is a group of eight local investors who bought the Hawks and Philips Arena last spring from Time Warner for $250 million. The Hawks finished last season with 28 wins and 54 losses, one of the worst records in the NBA.

The National Hockey League’s Thrashers finished last season with a record of 33-37-8, their best season, but did not qualify for the NHL playoffs.
