Postaer Joins GSD&M

GSD&M has hired freelance talent Jeremy Postaer as group creative director for two of its major accounts, Land Rover and Southwest Airlines.
The formerly San Francisco-based Postaer, 37, recently worked at Merkley Newman Harty in New York (on Mercedes-Benz) and at TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco (Game Show Network and GSD&M is based in Austin, Texas.
Postaer, son of Santa Monica, Calif.-based Rubin Postaer & Associates principal Larry Postaer, spent 10 years at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco prior to freelancing. There, he worked on many accounts, including E*Trade, Nike, Porsche and Partnership for a Drug-Free America. His last title at the shop was associate creative director.
“Jeremy has worked on outstanding campaigns and at shops whose work we admire,” said John Glenn, vice president and director of creative operations at GSD&M.
Postaer will share duties on the two GSD&M accounts with group creative director David Crawford. The agency divides its accounts among seven group creative directors in total–four of whom are senior vice presidents.
“I think the idea was [Crawford and I] could creative direct together, but also divide and conquer–keep one or the other of us from getting swamped,” said Postaer, who had switched from art direction to writing when he became a freelancer.
“GSD&M is really good at winning business and coming up with smart positioning ideas for clients,” he continued. “I think the struggle for any agency is once you win the business, how do you keep the work interesting and smart?
