Mullen has fallen short in its bid for PNC Bank following a grueling five-month review.
The Pittsburgh-based client last week handed its estimated $25 million account to co-finalist Doner in Southfield, Mich. Tapped for creative, strategic and media buying responsibilities, Doner expects its first work to break in September, said agency chairman and chief executive officer Alan Kalter.
Wenham, Mass.-based Mullen’s most recent work in the category was for BankBoston two years ago.
Doner’s previous financial services experience includes clients Scudder-Kemper and MBNA.
