O’Malley Heads JWT’s Ford Account

DETROIT — Longtime General Motors executive Michael O’Malley has joined J. Walter Thompson as executive vice president and global business director for Ford Motor Co., the agency said.

O’Malley takes over as the agency’s head Ford executive from Peter A. Schweitzer, who was promoted to chief executive officer of JWT in January.

For the past year, O’Malley has been general manager of GM’s Cadillac division, and at one time or another, during 20 years at the automaker, worked for all five GM divisions.

Before his GM tenure, he spent four years at Ford.

Ford is JWT’s largest account. O’Malley will run it out of the agency’s Detroit office.
