NYT Digital Records Q1 Revenue Rise

NEW YORK The New York Times Digital this week reported that first-quarter revenue for its online properties, which include NYTimes.com and Boston.com, rose 21 percent to $19.6 million from $16.6 million in the same period a year earlier.

The New York-based online unit of The New York Times Company attributed the increase to higher advertising revenue resulting from increased volume. Q1 revenue was flat compared to fourth-quarter’s $19.7 million [IQ Daily Briefing, Jan. 30].

Operating profit was $3.2 million, up from $200,000 in Q1 2002 and down from $3.3 million in Q4.
