Nokia Talks to Shops About Global Project

CHICAGO Nokia is talking to shops about a global product launch assignment, sources said.

Among the agencies involved are: the London office of Grey Global Group’s Grey, whose New York office handles Nokia’s $70 million U.S. account; Omnicom Group’s DDB; Interpublic Group’s Lowe; Havas’ Euro RSCG; and WPP Group’s Bates, which handles Nokia’s cell-phone business in Asia, according to sources.

Spending on the assignment, which is being pitched out of Nokia’s Helsinki, Finland, headquarters, was not disclosed.

Nokia spends an estimated $350-375 million globally on ads.

A client representative could not be reached for comment. Agencies either declined comment or could not be reached.

This story updates and corrects an earlier item that stated IPG’s is represented in the pitch by McCann Erickson. The holding company is represented by Lowe.
