The Nielsen Co. announced Thursday (May 29) a new research service that provides lifestyle and demographic audience information for the third screen.

The service, called Mobile@Plan is an extension of Nielsen’s @Plan service that profiles online audiences.

Accessing the Internet over cell phones and other personal devices is quickly creating a “third screen” opportunity for advertisers and programmers. According to Nielsen, 48 million U.S. mobile subscribers access the Internet over their phone each month.

Mobile@Plan will profile users to more than 200 mobile Web site, by lifestyle, demographic, leisure activities, life events, electronics ownership, media use and brand-level purchase activity for travel, auto, finance, food and beverage, real estate, even pets.
