Mullen Promotes ‘Evolution’

Clear Blue Sky Productions, an independent film production company, has hired Mullen to launch an integrated marketing campaign for a new PBS mini-series called Evolution.

Mullen, Wenham, Mass., was chosen by the Seattle-based client following a review of undisclosed shops. The agency described the effort as a mutli-million-dollar campaign, but the exact budget was not disclosed. The eight-hour mini-series is slated to air in the fall of 2001.

The agency is well-versed in broadcast promotions, and in the late-1990s crafted an oft-awarded campaign for the Sci-Fi Channel that included a memorable spot that showed a man giving birth.

Mullen’s duties for Evolution will include TV, print and radio advertising, interactive and guerilla marketing and promotional activities. The agency’s advertising and marketing campaigns will work in conjunction with a national public relations and PBS station relations effort from WGBH, Boston.
