Interpublic’s Marketing Drive Worldwide, Wilton, has appointed Christopher Barr and Kathryn Benedett co-CEOs and managing partners of its Connecticut office, replacing Chris Maher, who has left the agency. Barr and Benedett most recently were principals of Westport-based BBG, a marketing and promotions agency that was acquired by True North in 1998. Barr and Benedett will also have responsibility for Marketing Drive Worldwide’s New York office. Prior to BBG, Barr was president of The Marketing Agency, a division of Marketing Corporation of America. He was a vice president of Glendinning Associates, where he also served as group director of Glendinning Associates International, based in London. Benedett was with The Marketing Agency for 11 years as executive vice president and was a vice president with Allen & Doward Advertising.

Cashman & Katz Integrated Communications, Glastonbury, hired Tom Trella as vice president, account supervisor, and Dawn Peterson as art director. Trella has worked for Hartford-area agencies O’Neal & Prelle and KGA Advertising for the past 15 years. Peterson previously worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a manager of the corporate design department and at Brann Worldwide as an art director.


Via, Portland, hired Julia Brady as senior client strategist. Brady will initially work on the PurchaseSoft and Idexx Labora-tories accounts. Prior to Via, Brady served at McKinsey & Company for four years, where she worked with media retail, consumer products and travel companies, providing strategic direction. Brady also worked for Bain & Company and Dennis Connor Sports. Brady began her career at Advantage International, where she formulated corporate event marketing strategies and public relations programs for clients such as Northwest Airlines, BMW and Home Depot.


BaseSix, Boston, a strategic marketing and technical development firm has assigned Sheryl Victor to its client services group as a vice president, marketing director. Victor will manage the company’s yet-to-be announced channel marketing service offerings. She most recently served as channel marketing manager for Intranets.com’s affiliate marketing program. Prior to that, she held marketing positions with Soundsbig.com, The Sloan Group and PolyGram Video, among other companies.

Kate Conti has joined Deloitte & Touche, Boston, as public relations specialist. Conti will be responsible for managing the company’s public relations initiatives in New England, including the 2001 New England Technology Fast 50 program. Conti has worked with leading brands including Gillette, Hasbro Games, Info-games, Dunkin’ Donuts, California Pizza Kitchen and InterNutria. Previously, Conti worked at Agnew Carter/MS&L and Cone, Boston.

Birmingham Associates Communications, Boston, has hired Jim Harris as general sales manager. Harris, formerly of Entrecom-Boston, which owns WEEI, WRKO, WAAF and WQSX, was enlisted to head up sales and new business development.

Veridiem, Maynard, has hired Rick Cramer as president and chief executive officer. Cramer is a former executive of Avid Technology and Centra Software. An 18-year veteran of the high-technology industry, Cramer was vice president of sales, marketing and business development for Centra Software. Prior to Centra, he was a founding member of Avid Technology. Cramer also held various sales and marketing positions with Apollo Computer and Xerox and has consulted for a number of startup technology companies. He sits on the boards of both Veridiem and Omtool, an enterprise communications software vendor.

Kathleen Dagher has joined Modernista!, Boston, as a financial analyst. Dagher will work on a variety of the agency’s accounts. Prior to joining Modernista!, Dagher worked as a contract administrator for State Street Bank and Trust/ State Street Global Advisors, Boston. She also worked for Viking Corp., Newport.

Parker & James Communications, Dedham, hired Kelly Gagnon as assistant account executive. Gagnon recently completed her M.A. in integrated marketing communications at Emerson College, where she was a public relations specialist in the career services department. Gagnon has also worked as a consultant for a variety of different clients, specifically in the education, healthcare, nonprofit and biotech fields. She is an assistant professor at Harvard University and teaches a graduate-level management and organizational communication course, as well as public speaking.

Ishd Advertising, Chicopee, has added seven new staff members and created new responsibilities for two current staffers. Antonio Costa becomes the creative director of the interactive/multimedia department. He was most recently at Wave Systems, where he was print and multimedia designer. In the same department at Ishd, Bronwen Hodgkinson was named an interactive/multimedia designer. Hodgkinson has experience in Web design, development, content management and site maintenance. William Alatalo was named to the same departmental post. Paul Pereira and Noel Szado join the agency as senior designers. Jim Fitzgerald was named a sales representative, specializing in new business development. Previously, Fitzgerald was the director of business development and marketing strategy for Prime Media, an advertising agency in Hartford, Conn. Also new to the agency is Susan Martin, customer representative. Laura Cunha, production manager, will take on additional responsibilities as the customer service representative supporting clients such as Agfa Corp., Blackstone Medical and Catic. Kevin Brady has been promoted to customer service representative for clients, including Alstom Power, Ebtec and Emhart Glass. His previous position was traffic manager.


Filias Advertising, Portsmouth, added five employees to its roster. Jamie Randazzo steps into the art director’s role from Bozell Kamstra, Danvers, Mass., which recently was absorbed by Mullen, Wenham, Mass. David Moore, formerly of Arnold, Boston, was named the shop’s media planner. He has done buying and planning for accounts such as McDonald’s and Volkswagen. Melissa Normandin, who has worked in the account services section of the financial industry, was named account executive, and Alexis DiCarlo was named traffic and production manager. Nick Dika joins the agency as project coordinator, and he is responsible for much of the shop’s accounts payable/receivable work.
