NEW YORK Jennie Wadhams was tapped as senior vice president, director of broadcast production by D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, New York. She was most recently head of television production with Abbott Mead Vickers/SMS in London. New York-based Omnicom Group named Michael Birkin president of marketing services and Diversified Agency Services. Birkin was president of DAS in Europe and Asia. Debra Kaye has been named senior vice president, senior worldwide account director on the $90 million Duracell account at BBDO, New York. Kaye had been a managing director at BDDP/Mancebo-Kaye in Madrid, Spain, an office she helped establish. J. Walter Thompson in New York has promoted Frank Ruppen to senior partner, worldwide director on the Adams portion of the Warner Lambert account. He moves from senior vice president and regional director on Kellogg's at JWT Sydney. David Meer has also joined JWT as director of branding intelligence, Americas. Prior to the move, Meer was president of the telecommunications group at The NPD Group in Port Washington, N.Y. Keith Goldberg and James Offenhartz of J. Walter Thompson have been promoted to senior partners, creative directors. Both were senior partners, associate creative directors. Susan Larscheid has joined Joe Boxer, New York, as vice president, women's sales. She came to the company from NAP, where she was national sales manager and brand division manager. Kelly Cella, an account executive at PResence Euro RSCG, a New York-based healthcare public relations agency, has been honored with The Liz Hoover Award by the New York Women in Communications. New Plan Realty Trust, a New York-based real estate investment trust, has named Susan Belgam Hunt marketing director. She will be responsible for advertising, marketing and promoting the company's factory outlet center portfolio. Tribune Entertainment, New York, has reported two moves: Ben Knezovic was named account executive, advertiser sales, responsible for representing all Tribune Entertainment programming to East coast agencies and Rick Marker was elevated to manager, Midwest sales. Gary Belsky was named senior editor of ESPN The Magazine. He left Money magazine after seven years as staff writer and senior editor. Jack Laschever has been named publisher of GQ magazine, New York. He comes to GQ from American Express Publishing Company, where he was corporate vice president, group publisher of Departures, Your Company and SkyGuide. Toolbox, New York, has hired Pat Smith as a management supervisor. She was previously an account director at TBWA Chiat/Day, New York. Tom Pardo joined United Stations Radio Networks, New York, as account executive for the Eastern region. He comes to USRN from The New Yorker, where he was merchandising coordinator. Foote, Cone & Belding, New York, has hired Charles Menduni as senior vice president, group media director on the United States Postal Service account. Prior to joining FCB, he was a media director at Welch Nehlen & Groome, Garden City. Stagebill, New York, reported several appointments: Frederick Becker, formerly vice president, corporate sales director for Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, has been named associate publisher; Suzanne Puchalsky, most recently advertising director of Miller Sports Group's Cruising World and Sailing World magazines, was named New York manager; and Kimberly Goldberg, formerly advertising sales assistant at The New Yorker, was named New York local account manager. AdWorx Advertising, Staten Island, has tapped Dan Wilko as public relations, marketing and events coordinator. McCall's, New York, has reported several promotions and new hires: Gay Norton Edelman has been elevated to senior editor from special features editor; Kristin McGinn was promoted from editorial assistant to assistant editor; account manager Anne Tuomey was tapped as health category manager; and B.J. Thompson was hired as an account manager. Child magazine, New York, has named Jane Startz to its editorial board of advisors. Startz is the owner of Jane Startz Productions, a developer of family-oriented feature films and television programs. Gruner+Jahr USA Publishing, New York, has tapped Mark Rosenberg as project manager. He had been a marketing manager, new business subscriptions at Family Circle. Managing Automation magazine, New York, reported several editorial promotions: Erin Callaway was named senior editor; Jeffrey Zymont was tapped to head the magazine's product development section; and Joshua Greenbaum was hired as a columnist. NEW JERSEY Christy Thiele has joined The Cherenson Group, Livingston, as a public relations manager. Formerly, she worked as public relations manager for The Phoenix Symphony. Michael Laschuk has joined BN Group in Randolph as account director. Previously, he was senior account executive for Nobart in New York. PENNSYLVANIA Albert Banisch was named general manager, marketing by Heinz USA, Pittsburgh. He is responsible for developing business strategies for the company's retail ketchup business. Stiegler, Wells & Brunswick, Bethlehem, reported several new hires. Robert Blake has joined SWB as senior art director. He left The Direct Marketing Group in New York, where he was a direct marketing consultant. Rick Giamportone, former account supervisor at Grey Advertising in New York, has signed on with SWB as an account executive. Sharen Kindel was also tapped as an account executive. Prior to her hire, she worked at KSK Communications in Virginia. Maureen Dietz was appointed art production specialist. David Miller, a recent graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, was hired as an associate art director. Jill Cohen has joined QVC Publishing, West Chester, as vice president and publisher. Prior to QVC, Cohen was president of the direct marketing division at Random House. Ketchum Advertising has reported a restructuring of its Pittsburgh office. Pam Livolsi has been promoted to vice president, group media director from vice president, associate group media director. She will oversee accounts including Imation, J.D. Edwards and Zippo. Also, Christina Penezic has been promoted to vice president, group media director from associate media director. CONNECTICUT J. Brown/LMC Group in Stamford has appointed Jonathan Bauchner junior account executive. He left his position as associate merchandise manager at Microwarehouse Inc. in Norwalk to join the firm.
