Ammirati Puras Lintas, New York, has tapped Doug Knopper as senior vice president, group director, client services on the Aetna and General Motors OnStar business. Knopper comes from TBWA Chiat/Day, New York, where he worked on the Seagram’s, Champion and Wonderbra accounts.
Perianne Grignon, executive vice president, director of media and new technologies at Bates North America, New York, has resigned to accept the post of director of media services at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Grignon joined Bates last October, replacing longtime media director Jay Schoenfeld. A successor has not been named.
Rene Gabriel has been tapped as an account manager by the Smith Advertising Group, Syracuse. Formerly the executive director of Madison County Tourism, Gabriel is responsible for developing marketing and communication materials for the agency’s tourism clients.
Gustavo Basalo has been named managing director, international network development for Hearst’s Entertainment and Syndication Group. Basalo is responsible for creating and building international satellite networks for the company.
WNYW-TV, New York, has tapped Betty Zarro as an account executive. Zarro had been national sales manager for WLNY-TV on Long Island.
Mademoiselle, New York, reported two appointments in the magazine’s promotions department: Thomas Allcock was named promotion director and Dawn David was named promotion copywriter.
Forbes, New York, has named Richard Karlgaard publisher. Kaarlgard was editor of Forbes ASAP, a technology publication.
Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, New York, has promoted Jeanne Schwenk to advertising director at Elle, and Marly Graubard to fashion director at Elle.
MTV Networks, New York, has tapped Todd Phillips as vice president, communications and Vanessa Reyes as director, communications.
Eric Cantor was named senior vice president, sales and marketing for the McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group, New York. Cantor had been senior vice president, marketing and new business development for Buckeye Communications.
Bon Appƒtit, New York, has appointed Gwen Weiss to account manager, responsible for prestige beauty advertising. She had been an account manager at Us for six years.
Joy Batashoff has joined Boxtree Communications, New York, as marketing director. She had worked for Fuji Photo Films, New York, as a brand manager for Quicksnap cameras.

The Mega Group, Robbinsville, reported three additions to its staff: Allison Steffaro signed on as an account executive, Gail Birdsong joined Mega’s account management staff and John Stinger was tapped as director, marketing services and public relations.
Interactive Marketing Group, Allendale, reported two new hires: Keri Bauer as director of client services and Peter DeCaro as director of telemarketing and telecommunications. Ronald Goldsmith was tapped by Henschel-Steinau, an Englewood-based point-of-purchase advertising agency, as a senior account executive.
Roy Tuck, an award-winning creative director with 25 years of agency experience, has joined The Quantum Group, Parsippany, the consumer healthcare agency of CommonHealth. He will oversee the development of advertising for clients such as Bayer, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Johnson & Johnson.
DKB & Partners has elevated Dierdre Graham to account director. Graham will manage all of DKB’s advertising account executives, while overseeing all of the shop’s advertising and marketing programs.

Earle Palmer Brown, Philadelphia, has tapped Barbara Stein as project coordinator on the Split Second at Amoco convenience store account. Stein comes from CME Information Services, Mount Laurel, N.J., where she served clients in a similar capacity. EPB also promoted Andrew Wood to account executive from assistant account executive.
Jodie Lapin has been tapped as a public relations account executive by LevLane Advertising and Public Relations, Bala Cynwyd. LevLane also made director of media services Tony Sweeney a vice president.
Criterion Communications, King of Prussia, has elevated Steve Rockman to executive vice president, business and technology development. Also, Criterion has promoted Diane Hill to assistant vice president of operations from production manager.
Paul Castner has joined the Lancaster office of The Ball Group as vice president, marketing services. Castner comes from Intel Corp.’s Phoenix, Ariz., office, where he was marketing communications manager.
Mitchell & Resnikoff, Elkins Park, has elevated Kate MacLeod to account executive from assistant account executive. MacLeod will continue to work with her current roster of clients.

Trade Directions, a Wilton-based marketing information services company, has named Scott Taylor group vice president, sales and marketing. He will be responsible for marketing, sales, client services and the development of alliances.
