TEXAS
Richard Van Buren was promoted to vice president and art director at Corporate Images Marketing & Advertising in Austin. Van Buren has been with Corporate Images for approximately two years.
KOAI-FM, Dallas, appointed Buddy Lee general sales manager. Previously, Lee held the same post at Bonneville-owned stations KZPS-FM and KDGE-FM, both Dallas. He also spent nearly 10 years in Chicago working in a variety of formats.
Mitchell Cardwell joined Video Post & Transfer in Dallas as editor. Cardwell was recently senior designer and editor at KDFW-Channel 4, the Fox affiliate in Dallas. Prior to that, he was in Miami as a post-production editor at WTVJ-Channel 6 (NBC) and senior post-production editor at WSVN-Channel 7 (Fox).
Levenson Public Relations in Dallas named Gordon Cole executive vice president and general manager. Cole previously worked in Detroit, according to the agency.
Fogarty Klein & Partners, Houston, added new personnel and made four promotions. Hired were account supervisor Mary Bowman, formerly specialty marketing director at Builders Square, San Antonio; account manager Liz Sabo, previously at MARC Group subsidiary Target Base in Dallas; and media supervisor Pamm Dudley from McCann-Erickson, Houston. Those with new titles at the agency are vice president and group media director Kyle Allen, vice president and general manager of FK&P Direct Response Randy Crimmins, vice president of business development Cynthia McChesney and account executive Wendy Michalec.
Lyrick Studios, a distributor of children’s television shows Barney & Friends and Wishbone in Richardson, promoted three employees to senior executive positions. Sue Bristol moved up to marketing vice president, Robert Boss progressed to senior vice president and Carla Lorenz Stock was elevated to international vice president.
Peter Wood joined Joiner Rowland Serio, Dallas, as art director after serving stints at Ogilvy & Mather in Houston and The Richards Group, also Dallas.
The Greater San Antonio Area Tourism Council appointed Marco Barros its first executive director. Barros was marketing manager for Mexico-Express, a company owned by the San Antonio Express-News.
Dallas-based USData Marketing designated Michael Goeke director of industry programs.
American BioMed, The Woodlands, hired Marshall Kerr as vice president of sales and marketing. Kerr previously held the same title at U.S. Medical Instruments in San Diego.
San Francisco-based Miller Freeman, a business magazine publisher and trade show producer, tapped Michael Green as vice president of its Dallas office.
Ward Creative Communications in Houston installed Paul Doucette as vice president. Doucette, also a board member of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, has been assigned public affairs counseling responsibilities.
Saundra Thames joined The Balcom Agency, Fort Worth, as production manager. Thames was formerly a production manager at Meyer & Johnson, Dallas.
Bates Southwest, Houston, hired production artist Kim Grimm and print traffic coordinator Misty Cryer. Grimm is a former freelancer. Cryer will handle print traffic for the agency’s GTE-Texas collateral, Mississippi Power and Houston Image Group accounts.
Tandy Corp., Fort Worth, appointed Dick Donnelly vice president of computer marketing and business development for Radio Shack. Donnelly held previous marketing and merchandising assignments with Tandy, including former company subsidiaries Incredible Universe and Computer City.
Blockbuster, Dallas, named George Williams senior vice president of marketing, Marva Cathey vice president of advertising, Curt Andrews vice president of merchandising and promotions, Scott Parks director of advertising and promotions development, and Karen Raskopf vice president of corporate communications.
Padgett Printing, Dallas, selected Wayne Ingram as electronic imaging manager. Ingram joined the staff of Padgett from American Signature, also Dallas. He previously was systems administration director for Williamson Printing in Dallas.
LOUISIANA
Doug Meaux and Laura Fereday were hired by Calzone Advertising, Lafayette. Meaux, formerly general assignments reporter for KATC-Channel 3 in Lafayette, was named public relations director. Fereday, media director, previously worked in the Baton Rouge market.
OKLAHOMA
Ron Longinotti recently advanced from vice president to president and general manager of KOTV-Channel 6, the CBS affiliate in Tulsa owned by Dallas-based A.H. Belo Corp.
