TEXAS Rives Carlberg, Houston, has hired public relations account executive Tom Overton, media buyer Marsha Erskine and analyst Scott Edris. Overton was editor of Duke Energy Corp.'s employee publication, while Erskine arrives from Moroch and Associates, Dallas. Edris was previously an analyst for Service Corp. International, located in Houston. MQ&C Advertising and Marketing, Austin, has welcomed radio media buyer and traffic director Ilaria Bonalumi and media assistant Gary Finley. Bonalumi was a media buyer at Stanhope & Geiger, Austin. Finley is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Shaniqua Mitchell was promoted to traffic manager at Rhodes Stafford Wines Creative, Dallas. Mitchell joined the company in 1997. Montemayor y Asociados, San Antonio, has appointed senior media buyer Tara Pittman and senior media planner Mary Mousseau Haines to its staff. Pittman and Haines are both former media officials with Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, also located in San Antonio. Director Tim Williams has signed with Apollo Films, Dallas, for commercial representation. Williams comes to Apollo from his Thunderbolt Films, also Dallas. Gus Granger has joined DDB Needham Interactive in Dallas as its new junior art director. Granger was formerly with Rapp Collins Worldwide, Minneapolis, as a print designer. John Sweeney was promoted to president from vice president and general manager of the Houston Chronicle. Sweeney succeeds retiring president G.E. McDavid. Temerlin McClain, Irving, has hired seven new staff members: executive broadcast producer Jeremy Besser, formerly executive producer at J. Walter Thompson, San Francisco; art director Scott Eddy, from Latitude, Dallas; senior art directors James Hughes, recently with Publicis, Dallas, and Randall Montgomery, from Fahlgren Advertising, Columbus, Ohio; senior copywriters Jeff Moore, from Ericson in Nashville, Tenn., and Melvin Strobbe, who was associate creative director at McCann-Erickson, Dallas; and design manager Lee Staicer, formerly a senior art director and designer with Harris Drury Cohen, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Clark Bystrom was hired by MC2 Advertising & Design, Austin, as an art director. Bystrom previously worked in Dallas for May & Co. and Squires & Co. Coffee/Black Advertising, Dallas, has enlisted account executive Melissa Moore, previously with Compass Bank, Dallas. JWT Specialized Communications has added vice president and creative director Scott Caris in Dallas and copywriter David Morris to its Houston office. Mindi Gibbs was named director of account services at Edge Systems in Dallas, moving up from an account manager position. Big Fish Films, Dallas, has signed director and cameraman Michael Olek-sinksi and directors Douglas Finelli and Cressandra Thibodeaux. Chancellor Marketing Group, the national sales promotion arm of Chancellor Media Corp., has designated Anne Bendalin as managing director in its Dallas office. Bendalin was formerly vice president and local field director for Leo Burnett Field Marketing Services. Bonnie Eberhardt has arrived at Inks Production Co., Austin, as marketing assistant. Eberhardt previously was a production coordinator at Digital Domain, also Austin. Meltzer & Martin Public Relations, Dallas, has assigned Misti Westfall as account executive on its Sprint Business account. Previously, she was assistant director of media relations for the Southland Conference. The Dallas Ad League has elected its board members for 1998-99. Officers include president Brandee Knox, first vice president Bryon Morrison, second vice president Colleen O'Kane, public relations officer Elena Rohweder, and TOPS awards show chairman Poppy Sundeen. OKLAHOMA Hartman Communications executive vice president Sara Wilson was elected to the 1998-99 international board of directors of the Business Marketing Association, where she will serve as vice president of communications.
