The Lord Group in New York has named James Pharo general manager, in which capacity he will manage all day-to-day functions of the agency. He reports to Roger Chiocchi, shop president and COO. Pharo replaces Larry Orell, who left the agency in August to become general manager of Initiative Media in New York. Pharo most recently served as senior vice president and legal counsel at Young & Rubicam in New York. At Y&R, he provided general legal and business advice to the agency and was lead adviser on all advertising and marketing-law issues worldwide; in addition, he was instrumental in establishing and maintaining key client business and legal relationships.

Bozell New York has promoted Diana Tilley to director of brand integration, a new position. Tilley, who was also named senior partner, previously served as strategic planner at the New York-based agency. She started at Bozell in 1998 as a direct planner on The New York Times; she soon moved up to managing the entire direct account for the Times, as well as serving as a direct planner for Datek Online and handling account-management services for Verizon Wireless.

Palio Communications has hired three new staffers. Karen-Anne Doescher has been appointed technology manager; prior to joining the Saratoga Springs-based shop, she was systems manager at The Saratogian. Tiffany Marg was named account coordinator; she arrives from Printing Services, where she worked as a sales specialist. Bonnie Stofer was named account director; before joining Palio, she was director of account management at Buck & Pulleyn.

Strategics Advertising has hired four new staffers. Nicholas Mondello was named vice president, strategic development; before joining the Westbury-based shop, he was senior marketing manager for Weight Watchers International. Michael DeGeorges was named vice president, media; he most recently was senior broadcast account executive at Ogilvy & Mather in New York, responsible for negotiating national broadcast schedules for Hershey, Kimberly-Clark, GTE and Shell. Diane LoBiondo has joined as director of account services; she formerly worked as management supervisor at Impiric in New York, where she was responsible for managing the retail business for Xerox Corp. Tricia Bond has arrived as an assistant account executive; she previously served at Ziff Davis Media as a senior account coordinator for PC Magazine.

Timothy McCreight has been promoted to vice president and managing director of DMW Worldwide, effective immediately. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing client services, as well as the daily activities of the Wayne, Pa.-based agency’s New York office, where he will be based.


Mava Heffler was named vice president of marketing and research at CNBC in Fort Lee, responsible for the overall marketing and management of the CNBC brand, including advertising and sales marketing. She formerly was senior vice president of marketing at Cendant’s Netmarket Group.
