Modernista! Makes Key Hires in Wilmot, Kennedy

BOSTON Mike Wilmot has joined Modernista! as an account director on General Motors’ Hummer, the agency’s flagship client.

Wilmot said he was hired as a result of growth on the account and he is specifically tasked with, “managing the dealer side of the business.”

With Hummer dealers now numbering 150 nationwide, the time had come to create a position at the shop to address that constituency, said Matt Lindley, managing director of the Boston agency.

Wilmot parted with crosstown shop McCarthy Mambro Bertino in November. He had been at MMB for a year as an account director on Jiffy Lube and Stowe Mountain. Wilmot also has held positions at Hal Riney & Partners, San Francisco, working on the Saturn account, experience that helped him land the Modernista! post, he said. His experience also includes stints at Boston agencies Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos and Arnold. At the latter, he worked with Modernitsa! principal and co-founder Lance Jensen.

Separately, David Lewis Kennedy has come aboard as a copywriter on Hummer, Veryfine and Converse. He had been with DDB, Chicago, working on Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser and Bud Light brands as well as on McDonald’s.

After a sluggish performance in 2002, Modernista! has been shoring up its ranks of late, recently adding former Bozell staffer Clift Jones as president.
