Merger Begets Ogilvy Healthworld

NEW YORK Following the addition of two global accounts, AstraZeneca and Roche, WPP Group’s Ogilvy Healthcare and Healthworld Communications Group have merged to create Ogilvy Healthworld.

Steven Girgenti, 59, will lead the new entity as global chief executive officer. He was formerly CEO of Healthworld.

The New York-based agency will provide advertising, clinical trial recruitment marketing, medical education and public relations to clients that include Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline and Wyeth. The company will operate in 30 markets worldwide.

In addition, the network will develop a global brand identity for Galiday, a drug developed to fight Type II diabetes and other metabolic syndromes. It is scheduled to launch in 2007. For Roche, it will develop brand strategy and marketing communications for Herceptin, the company’s breast cancer therapy. Both accounts were won at the end of 2004.
