McCann Exec Joins Lowe

NEW YORK Kevin Allen, a worldwide director of global accounts at Interpublic Group’s McCann Worldgroup, is shifting to sister shop Lowe to become vice chairman.

In his new role, Allen, 50, will focus on global marketing and new business development and will be based in London, as he was with Worldgroup. He is expected to work closely with Lowe global CEO Stephen Gatfield (to whom he reports) and worldwide chairman Tony Wright. Allen starts July 3.

Like Gatfield, Allen also has worked previously for Lowe parent IPG. From 2003 until 2005, he was chief growth officer, responsible for increasing demand for integrated marketing services among existing clients. He also helped coordinate multi-agency pitches. Gatfield was evp of strategy and network operations at IPG before replacing Wright as CEO in February.

“We worked closely on new design and delivery of ideas and multi-channel solutions when we were both at Interpublic,” said Gatfield, in a statement. “I have no doubt that Kevin will make a major contribution to the Lowe global leadership team. He will bring his vitality and expertise to harnessing our deep reservoir of talent around the re-invigorated, re-focused Lowe network.”

In his last role at Worldgroup, Allen oversaw multi-national clients based in Europe, including L’Oreal, Nestle and Unilever. Other executives will absorb his duties while the agency group decides whether to fill the post, a representative said.

Before his IPG post, Allen was evp and director of corporate development at Worldgroup for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. He joined McCann in 1992 from what was then Ketchum Advertising.
