Mayer Praises Faith of Saints’ Fans

DALLAS Peter A. Mayer Advertising’s new television campaign for the New Orleans Saints pays tribute to the National Football League team’s 39-year history and the loyalty of its fans, the agency said.

Launched during the NFL draft last month, the work by the New Orleans shop highlights the Saints 2005 theme: “You Gotta Have Faith.”

The first spot shows a variety of Saints bumper stickers and slogans like “The Saints Come Marching In,” “Sockit to ’em Saints,” “Faith, Hope and Bum,” “Cha-Ching” and “Bless You Boys.” The last bumper sticker reads “You Gotta Have Faith.”

The second commercial, set to air next month, will convey a similar message through a humorous scenario, the agency said. Both spots will appear on local network affiliates, as well as ESPN and ESPN2. The effort is expected to run through September or October and include future outdoor and print elements.

“The loyalty of Saints fans over the years is one of the great stories in sports,” said Saints executive vice president of administration Arnold D. Fielkow. “Our new advertising campaign celebrates the legacy of our great fans.”

The franchise spent $415,000 on advertising in 2004, according to TNS Media Intelligence. Mayer has worked with the Saints since the 2000 season.
