Does basketball’s gambling-referee scandal threaten the appeal of marketing efforts that use the game and its stars? It’s a fair bet. In a Zogby Interactive poll, “fully one-third of self-described NBA fans said that, as a result of the scandal, they will be less interested in the league.” Just 34 percent said the case that’s come to light is an isolated one. Among adults in general, 23 percent said so.
