Leo Burnett Wins KraftMaid

BOSTON Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett in Chicago has won the marketing communications account of KraftMaid Cabinetry following a review, according to the client.

Interpublic Group’s Mullen in Winston-Salem, N.C., also made a final presentation.

Incumbent Doner in Southfield, Mich., an independent shop that had worked on the business for the past three years, did not participate in the contest. Pile and Co., the consultancy here, oversaw the review.

Burnett sibling StarLink will handle media duties.

The client spent slightly more than $4 million in U.S. measured media last year, up $1 million from 2004, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Founded in 1969, KraftMaid is one of the world’s largest cabinetry manufacturers and a leading producer of built-to-order home cabinets. KraftMaid products are sold through independent dealers and distributors as well as in home centers in the U.S. and abroad.

KraftMaid recently introduced Venicia, a line of modern European-style cabinets, and the Leo Burnett will likely be tasked with touting that brand, in addition to providing overall marketing support.

Owing to recent expansion, KraftMaid is currently building an 840,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Utah. Masco, a Taylor, Mich.-based building-products concern, owns the company.

Other Leo Burnett clients include Altoids, Coca-Cola, Kellogg, McDonald’s, Procter & Gamble and Walt Disney.
