SANTA MONICA, CALIF. – Mark Goldston, president of athletic footwear company L.A. Gear, had ‘no comment’ regarding rumors that the firm was planning a review of the account now handled by Ogilvy & Mather/N.Y. Other sources said the rumors were fueled by a recent decision reached jointly by Goldston and O&M/N.Y. to enlist boutique firms on the West Coast to produce ‘quick turn-around projects’ for the company. O&M recently completed a raft of work to run through 1994.
