KSL Wins 3 New Accounts

Media Shop Added to Columbia TriStar Roster

LOS ANGELES–KSL Media has added three accounts totaling nearly $5 million in new business.
Columbia TriStar Television has tapped KSL’s Los Angeles office to plan and place approximately $2.5 million in media for its Rikki Lake and Vibe syndicated talk shows in selected markets for the February sweeps. Horizon Media’s Los Angeles office, which has a longstanding partnership with the Culver City, Calif.-based TV show distributor, continues to plan and place media in other markets for those talk shows and other Columbia TriStar programs.
KSL handled a planning and placement project jointly promoting Rikki Lake and Vibe for Columbia during last November’s sweeps.
“[Columbia TriStar] is starting to diversify its resources in both creative and media,” said one source.
Executives at both media companies referred calls to the client. Columbia TriStar executives could not be reached at press time.
Separately, KSL has added regional media duties for MediaOne, the broadband services arm of MediaOne Group in Denver. MediaOne is just beginning to launch broadband–a fiber-optic/coaxial cable phone service–in cable TV markets around the country. The company launched its first commercial telephone service last week in Atlanta.
KSL will place MediaOne’s ads in Los Angeles, Sacramento and other California markets when the service is introduced there later this year, according to Hank Cohen, president of the agency’s Los Angeles office. Billings are expected to be around $1 million.
Jeff McKinney, a MediaOne regional brand manager, confirmed KSL’s selection but declined further comment.
New York-based KSL Media’s 2-year-old Los Angeles office has also been placing media in the Los Angeles market for The Getty Center, which opened a new facility in Los Angeles late last year.
