Red Bull doesn’t do a ton of prank videos. But it made a good one last March, when it got Chicago Cubs third basemen Kris Bryant, the National League Rookie of the Year the previous season, to pretend to be a college kid again—a midseason transfer to Mesa Community College, where his first batting-practice session blew his shocked teammates away.
In a new Red Bull video, though, it’s Bryant who gets pranked—by Hall of Famer and former Cubs pitching legend Greg Maddux.
Bryant thinks he’s shooting a workout video, and Maddux—in full disguise, including a beard and a beer belly—is the sound guy working the shoot. When the guy throwing batting practice leaves unexpectedly, Maddux asks to fill in—saying he throws to his kids in Little League all the time.
You can imagine what happens next.
Very fun stuff from Red Bull, and a great way to kick off spring training.
