Scott Nelson has been named executive creative director of J. Walter Thompson.

Nelson, mostly re-cently a group creative director at the Atlanta agency, replaces Mike Lollis, who retired earlier this year.

“We’ve been known for solid, strategic, smart work,” said Nelson. “My goal is to move the shop more to the right side of the brain and strike a better balance between strategic and creative.”

In the last weeks, Nelson has been given that opportunity as he and senior writer Alan Whitley prepare to defend JWT’s signature U.S.
