Intel Issues Proposal Requests for $300 Mil. Global Business

LOS ANGELES Intel has issued proposal requests as the company kicks off a review for its $300 million global advertising account, a client representative confirmed.

The client is looking at holding company teams as well as “some individual agencies” for the pitch, which includes creative, media and below-the-line duties, said a source, “because although the business is global, there will be some consideration of smaller networks.”

The review began last month and the New York-based Havas creative and media incumbents, Euro RSCG Worldwide and Media Planning Group, will defend [Adweek Online, Oct. 5].

“We’re looking at a number of agencies and a decision is expected some time in the first quarter of 2005,” said Intel rep Claudine Mangano. She declined further comment.

Following written submissions, preliminary meetings will take place by the end of the year, then a cut to finalists and final presentations in the first quarter of 2005, sources said.

Select Resources International in Santa Monica, Calif., is managing the process for the Santa Clara, Calif. client.

In September, a new campaign featuring performance artists Blue Man Group broke in support of Intel’s Centrino mobile technology.
