Huffington to Talk ‘Cause Marketing’

Panel will address what's good for the world and brands

“Advertisers want to be where real solutions are,” Arianna Huffington tells Adweek. The left-right political divide, propagated by the media, “needs to be countered with advertising around real solutions,” she says.

To that end, the president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post is bringing together a panel from left and right of center—confirmed speakers include conservative columnist David Frum, Huffington Post senior political editor Howard Fineman, and Morning Joe duo Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, among others—to discuss “Trust, Community, and America’s Search for Real World Solutions.”

“Cause marketing is going to be a big part of what we’re discussing,” Huffington says of the event, which is presented by AOL and will take place on Monday, Oct. 3, at 5 p.m. at the Times Center Theater. “More and more brands want to identify with causes. It’s not just good for the world—it’s good for the brand, it’s good for the bottom line.”

Longtime New York Times parenting and family reporter Lisa Belkin (who is soon to join the Huffington Post) and Localocracy founder and CEO Conor White-Sullivan will also participate on the panel, which will be moderated by Huffington.
