– Braun to Run Kraft’s Review for $770 Mil. Media Biz
LOS ANGELES–Dave Braun, former Kraft Foods media head, is consulting Kraft on its review of media planning and buying, estimated at $770 million, sources said. The Philip Morris division’s agencies include J. Walter Thompson and Leo Burnett, both Chicago, whose media networks are MindShare and Starcom, respectively. Grey Global Group’s MediaCom is also a Kraft roster shop.
– Fallon, TBWACD Pitch Again to Citibank
NEW YORK–Fallon is meeting again today and tomorrow with Citibank in the agency’s bid to handle the bank’s estimated $150-170 million U.S. ad account, sources said. Executives from Minneapolis are in New York today and tomorrow to “blow out” its initial creative pitch, per the client’s request, sources said. Fellow finalist TBWAChiatDay is expected to do the same tomorrow, according to sources.
– FCB, Y&R Present Corporate-Image Ideas to AT&T
NEW YORK–FCB and Young & Rubicam are expected to present creative ideas this week for a new AT&T corporate-image campaign, sources said. Previous corporate-image ads, including one that depicted a working mom taking her kids to the beach, were created by Y&R. AT&T is looking to redefine its image, due to its merger with broadband giant MediaOne [Adweek, May 29].
– Hommeyer Goes to Hotwire; Account Goes to Goodby
LOS ANGELES–Hotwire, the online airfare discount service, has picked Goodby, Silverstein & Partners over Black Rocket and Leagas Delaney. The ad budget was undisclosed. “We were looking for an agency that had an unbelievably strong track record for building brands,” said John Hommeyer, Hotwire’s new chief marketing officer, who joined from Pets.com, where he was vp of marketing.
– Lazio Releases Another Ad
WASHINGTON, D.C.–Rick Lazio, the Republican candidate for the New York Senate seat, released his third ad last week in his campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton. The spot features Lazio’s wife Pat responding to a Clinton ad attacking Lazio’s record on healthcare issues. “Rick voted for a Patients’ Bill of Rights, and Rick just helped pass new legislation to help seniors afford their prescription drugs,” Pat Lazio says. “Why do I care so much about healthcare? I’m a registered nurse.” The ad is by the Murphy Pintak Gautier Hudome Agency. (See News Analysis, page 14.)

Cisco Systems is looking to augment its roster with another direct-marketing and/or Internet agency. Incumbent Miller/Huber, San Francisco, will continue to work with the client, as will lead shop GMO/Hill, Holliday. Brotherton Consulting Group in San Rafael, Calif., is handling the review for the $15-25 million account. Instinet, New York, is searching for a shop to handle ad duties for its new Web-brokerage site, sources said. Billings are estimated at $15 million. Richard Roth Associates, Chappaqua, N.Y., is handling. 1-800 Contacts, Los Angeles, is reviewing its estimated $18 million account. The client parted with incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi, San Francisco, last year. U.S. Wireless is talking to 8-10 shops here about its estimated $10-15 million account. (Continued on page 76)
