4 Shops in Running for Midwest Dairy Media

CHICAGO—Four Midwest shops are vying for the Midwest Dairy Association’s $6 million media planning and buying account. Contending for the business are incumbent Bolin Marketing and Advertising in Minneapolis; Meyocks & Priebe of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Kansas City, Mo., shops Barkley Evergreen & Partners and Valentine Radford, according to an official with the association. A decision is expected by next week.

Bucher Back at BBDS to Run Milwaukee

CHICAGO—Scott Bucher rejoined BBDS as general manager of the agency’s Milwaukee office. Bucher is also management supervisor of the agency. Bucher was an account supervisor with the Chicago shop’s Milwaukee office from 1995 to 1996. He then left to serve as Midwest sales manager for the marine magazine Power & Motor Yacht.

Midas Set to Name Contenders

CHICAGO—Midas is expected to name finalists for its $50 million account this week. A single-page list of 14 questions was sent to a number of agencies in the Midwest were due back to the Chicago company last Friday. Midas split with Euro RSCG McConnaughy Tatham in Chicago in May. A decision is expected in August.

CL Names New Brand Planning Director

CHICAGO—Carmichael Lynch named Catrina McAuliffe director of brand planning. McAuliffe, who has had stints at TBWA\Chiat\Day and Goldberg Moser O’Neill, both in San Francisco, inherits the post from Doug Hagge, who was named director of marketing intelligence at the Minneapolis shop. Both will report to agency president John Colasanti.

Bcom3 Reports First Quarter Results

CHICAGO—Bcom3 reported net income of $2.6 million on revenues of $447 million for the first quarter of 2001 in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. For the first quarter of 2000, the Chicago-based holding company had revenues of $381 million, but posted a $65 million loss because of a one-time-only $72 million charge relating to the merger that formed it.

D’Arcy, Dentsu Units Merge Down Under

CHICAGO—Bcom3 agency Pure D’Arcy and Dentsu operation BAM-SSB merged operations in Sydney to form D’Arcy Australia. Nigel Marsh, former client services director at D’Arcy London, will head up the new agency, while Pure D’Arcy chief creative officer Mark Collis will take the same role at the merged shop. In March, Bcom3 and Dentsu merged their Australian media operations under the Starcom Worldwide banner.

Toth Sets First Riders Work

BOSTON—Riders Apparel is launching a fall print campaign with the theme “Jeans that fit. Beautifully.” The effort is the first by Toth Brand Imaging, Concord, Mass., on behalf of Riders, a division of VF Jeanswear. Toth won the account this spring. Fallon, Minneapolis, had handled Riders since 1986. Toth also handles Wrangler, another VF brand. The client spends about $6 million annually.
