ATLANTA—T.G. Madison has hired John Carter as senior vice president and creative director. Carter, most recently CD at Ogilvy & Mather’s former Atlanta office, heads crosstown to lead a team of new creative hires. They include associate CDs Paige Bryars and Lara Gilmore. Previously, Carter worked at Goldberg Moser O’Neill and BBDO West in San Francisco.

McKinney to Market Bacardi’s Top Rum

ATLANTA—Bacardi U.S.A. has selected McKinney &Silver to handle marketing duties for its super-premium Bacardi 8 brand. The Raleigh, N.C., shop’s estimated$2 million account acquisition springs from its strong advertising campaign for Bacardi’s Disaronno Amaretto. McKinney will provide a full range of promotional and marketing services for the brand.

Wieden + Kennedy Wins

LOS ANGELES— has awarded its $35 million global advertising account to Wieden + Kennedy, sources said. The review also included finalist LeoBurnett in Chicago. “We have nothing to say,” said spokesman Bill Curry when asked for confirmation of the assignment. A Wieden spokeswoman also declined comment. FCB in San Francisco left in December following the Seattle client’s decision to put its account in review. The online superstore has struggled to maintain market share in an increasingly tight economy.

Rosenthal Lands Real Estate Assignment

ATLANTA—Dan Rosenthal Co. has picked up project work from Long & Foster Real Estate. The Bethesda, Md., shop pitched against four undisclosed agencies. Billings are undisclosed. Efforts focusing on consumer services involve a television and radio advertising and will break in the fall. Long & Foster, a real estate brokerage headquartered in Fairfax, Va., serves the five-state mid-Atlantic region.

Club Med Reviews lnteractive, Direct

CHICAGO—Club Med will hear presentations this week from seven agencies contending for its $3 million interactive and direct marketing account. Vying for the business are: Bozell Kamstra in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Impiric in Miami; MC Direct in Virginia Beach, Va.; Kerker in Minneapolis; Brann Worldwide in Wilton, Conn.; and Rapp Collins and Messina Brown, both of New York. There is no incumbent for the account, said Aimee Schmalzle, Club Med’s director of loyalty marketing.

Energizer Consolidates at TBWA\Chiat\Day

CHICAGO—Energizer consolidated its $100 million business at lead agency TBWA\Chiat\Day following a creative shootout with DDB Chicago, sources said. DDB was tapped last year to handle the $50 million rollout of the St. Louis-based battery maker’s e2 battery and pitched ideas for the upcoming rebranding of the Energizer as Energizer Max, according to sources. TBWA\C\D’s Playa del Rey, Calif., office will handle that effort and take over work on e2. Officials at the agencies referred calls to the client, which declined comment.
