AT&T Wireless Review Progresses

NEW YORK—AT&T Wireless is expected to make a cut this week to three finalists in its $400 million review, sources said. Representatives from six agencies attended credentials meetings last week at AT&T’s Basking Ridge, N.J., headquarters. Ogilvy & Mather, FCB and Saatchi & Saatchi, all New York, Leo Burnett in Chicago, TBWA\Chiat\Day in Playa del Rey, Calif., and Fallon in Minneapolis are vying for the account. The client is looking for a shop that can handle “heavy retail,” sources said.

Mail Boxes Etc. to Contact a Dozen

LOS ANGELES—Mail Boxes Etc. has selected 12 undisclosed agencies to receive a request for proposals for its $20 million creative and media account. The client is said to have received credentials from more than 130 shops. Proposals from the 12 are due in mid-May. The specialty retail and postal service chain expects to narrow the field to no more than four finalists and hold presentations at its San Diego headquarters May 27-28. The review is being led by Rojek Cutcher Group in Columbus, Ohio. The account is expected to be awarded in late July. It was previously handled by Ogilvy & Mather, Los Angeles.

Game Show Network Considers 2

LOS ANGELES—The Game Show Network has cut the list of agencies under consideration for its $5-7 million account from five undisclosed agencies to two, a spokes man for the Los Angeles-based client confirmed. The account was previously handled by TBWA\Chiat\Day, Playa del Rey, Calif. A decision is expected at the end of May.

Audi Reviews Interactive Business

BOSTON—Audi of America is ending its relationship with troubled interactive shop marchFirst and is close to naming another shop to handle its interactive account. Audi in Auburn Hills, Mich., has told Chicago-based marchFirst to finish up some work before the client moves in “a different direction,” said Jennifer Garber, a representative at the car maker. “We will soon have a new partner or perhaps two partners to conduct the rest of our e-business strategy,” she said. She declined to disclose finalists. Whitman-Hart, the marchFirst unit handling Audi’s interactive work, was recently sold to Divine Inc. of Denver. “They have been notified that we will not be using their services after these projects are concluded,” Garber said.

TN Unit Forms Media Arm

CHICAGO—True North Communications’ New America Strategies Group has formed its own media arm, New Perspectives Media, which will be headquartered in Miami. TN’s NASG, the company’s multicultural agency arm, is comprised of Don Coleman Advertising, Detroit; Siboney USA, Miami; Montemayor y Asociados, San Antonio; and Imada Wong Communications, Los Angeles.
