DDB Worldwide Buys Into del Rivero Messianu

ATLANTA—DDB Worldwide Communications Group has acquired a stake in del Rivero Messianu. The Miami agency will coordinate work for DDB’s Latin American clients including Exxon Mobil and Nortel. This is the second time the two agencies have had a business partnership. New York-based DDB Worldwide owned an interest in del Rivero Messianu for two years beginning in 1996.

MS&L Purchases Pondel/Wilkinson Group

ATLANTA—Manning, Selvage & Lee has purchasedPondel/Wilkinson Group, a corporate and investor relations firm. Headquartered in Atlanta, the newly acquired company will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under the name PondelWilkinson MS&L and serve as MS&L’s investor relations brand.

TBWA\Chiat\Day Bows Privacy Ads for EarthLink

LOS ANGELES—Seeking to differentiate itself from other Internet service providers, EarthLink last week launched an advertising campaign focusing on Web privacy. This is the first time EarthLink has centered its advertising efforts on this issue, according to a spokesperson at the Atlanta company. Created by TBWA\Chiat\Day of Playa del Rey, Calif., a 30-second television commercial called “Privacy” features 30 actors flash-fused together to create the image of one person getting out of bed, going to a dresser, then washing in the bathroom. The TV spot continues to use the “Get linked” tagline created by the agency last year. While the media budget for this campaign was undisclosed, the client spends $50 million on broadcast ads annually.

Frederick, Swanston Open Atlanta Agency

ATLANTA—Former Creative Foundry principals Scott Frederick and Bill Swanston are launching Frederick Swanston with two clients, Andretti Speed Lab and LSI Wallcovering. The two worked together at the Atlanta shop, which was closed at the end of 2000 by parent Fahlgren of Toledo, Ohio. Swanston moved to Atlanta a year ago, after working at Saatchi & Saatchi and BBDO in New York. Frederick was with Creative Foundry for three years.
