Digitas Adds Web Marketing Chores for FedEx

BOSTON—Digitas has added interactive advertising chores for Federal Express, a long-time direct marketing client of the Boston-based agency. The goal is to develop a cross-channel marketing approach for FedEx that dovetails with direct mail and telemarketing efforts the agency has already designed for the client. Digitas has, to some extent, bucked the negative trends dogging some interactive agencies of late, consistently cutting its quarterly losses and adding staff in offices worldwide. Digitas officials and industry analysts have attributed the company’s relative success to its long-standing relationships with large, stable clients such as FedEx.

Hill, Holliday Retires ‘Marsha’ for Marshalls

BOSTON—Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos last week unveiled a nationwide TV campaign for Marshalls, the agency’s first major effort in its five-year relationship with the client that does not feature the animated “Marsha” spokescharacter voiced by Tracey Ullman. The new ads show people enjoying items purchased at Marshalls.

Doner Wins Jenny Craig $25 Mil. Work

LOS ANGELES—Weight-loss marketer Jenny Craig has awarded its creative account to Doner, sources said. The Newport Beach, Calif., shop, primarily known as the lead office on the Mazda account for the Southfield, Mich.-based agency, won the business in a final round that also included incumbent Suissa Miller and Campbell-Ewald, both in Los Angeles, and Siltanen/Keehn in Santa Monica, Calif. Carat’s Southern California office continues to handle media for Jenny Craig, in La Jolla, Calif., on its $25 million account.

Rational Software Names Finalists

BOSTON—Three finalists have been named in the review for the creative portion of Rational Software’s $15-20 million advertising account. Mullen, Wenham, Mass., CGN Marketing & Creative Services, Boston, and Doremus, New York, have advanced. Red, Boston, Mintz & Hoke, Avon, Conn., and The Lord Group, New York, had been semifinalists. The Cupertino, Calif., client previously worked with Allen & Gerritsen, Watertown, Mass., on creative chores.
