Phillips Shops Gasoline Branding Project
DALLAS–Phillips 66 Co., Bartlesville, Okla., is reviewing six undisclosed shops in Chicago, Dallas and possibly elsewhere for an advertising initiative that would plug its gasoline brand and reinforce its corporate image. Ron Stanley, director of corporate advertising for Phillips, confirmed the search last week but declined to elaborate. DDB Needham, Dallas, is lead agency for Phillips and is being considered, along with other contenders, Stanley said.
Lucero, Square One Bow Miller Hispanic Ads
CHICAGO–Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis, launched the second year of the “Dick” campaign for Miller Lite with three new 60-second spots during the Super Bowl pre-game program. One features a man in a beaver costume tormenting settlers who have chopped down trees for a log cabin. In addition, the pool of new spots includes two executions targeting Hispanic consumers. The two ads were created by Lucero/Bentz, Dallas, in conjunction with Fallon and Miller Lite project agency Square One, also Dallas.
Sells Leaves Hot Springs Hunt to 3 Finalists
DALLAS–Three finalists remain in contention for the $1.3 million account of the Hot Springs (Ark.) Advertising & Promotion Commission. In the running are Little Rock Ark., shops Kirkpatrick Williams & Associates, Heathcott Associates and Frank J. Wills Co., according to a client representative. A fourth finalist, Sells/Clark, formerly Sells & Associates, Little Rock, withdrew after informing the client it believed the other finalists had not fully complied with the request for proposal.
El Chico Splits Advertising Account 4 Ways
DALLAS–Dallas-based restaurant chain El Chico, which has been purchased by Dallas investment group Cracken, Harkey, Street & Co., has divided its account among four Dallas advertising companies. The chain assigned creative to Poppywriter, media planning and buying to Gugel Advertising, collateral to Lidji Design Office, and strategic planning and research to Van Saxon & Associates. The account, less than $1 million, was previously handled by Levenson & Hill, Dallas.
Maxfield Group Acquires EDS Assignment
DALLAS–The Maxfield Group in Irving, Texas, said it was chosen by Electronic Data Services of Plano, Texas, to provide creative and production services. The assignment will include desktop publishing, writing, project management, Web site development and other communications services, according to the agency. Billings were undisclosed.
Focus2 to Market Nambƒ Product Lines
DALLAS–Focus2 here was selected to handle marketing chores for Nambƒ’s line of decorative sand-cast cooking and serving pieces. The assignment includes development of marketing strategies for four Nambƒ lines. Billings were undisclosed.
